Can you explain the difference between a district and town council? Know your Alternative Vote from STV? Or why the Berlin Wall fell and the Bosnian War began?

Democracy in Action was granted exclusive filming access inside the Palace of Westminster, in order to film teenagers learning about both the Commons and the Lords and the passage of legislation.

Through teenage led campaigns in Yorkshire and Norfolk, school students will also be able to learn about the role and responsibilities of local authorities.

Even electoral systems are explained in a fun way: teenagers eating pizza help explain the difference between first past the post and proportional representation, while a water polo team helps explain the alternative vote system.

And through teenagers living around the globe, viewers will also be able to lean about compulsory voting in Australia, India's role as the world's biggest democracy in the world, and living under Singapore's authoritarian democracy.

In a second programme, to be broadcast straight afterwards, Democracy in Action explores modern European history, including the impact of the Berlin Wall and life under Communism, EU migration, and iwider mmigration to the UK: through a young woman's disturbing family story during the Bosnian war, we learn about why people arrive as refugees.
