Citizenship in the proposed Primary curriculum

ACT has been in contact with DfE regarding the announcement last week about the Primary curriculum post September 2014. Citizenship was not included in the announcement last week as DfE chose to focus on the existing core and foundation subjects only-not the non statutory subjects. A further announcement about Citizenship and PSHE will follow, though this may not be until September when the DfE review of PSHE is published. However, it is also entirely possible that Michael Gove might make an announcement before the summer recess-though government business may preclude this.
ACT is still waiting to meet with Mr Gove and David Blunkett MP is association with Democratic Life and is hopeful that there will be no further announcement about Citizenship until that meeting has taken place.
