Only just over half of young people who are eligible register to vote. To encourage young people to get on the electoral register and make their voice heard, Cabinet Office and Bite the Ballot are today launching a new online toolkit for teachers, community leaders and young people themselves to hold registration events to get people signed up.
The tool kit includes:
- Session plan for teachers to run their own event, with specially developed activities to explain voter registration and get students talking about the issues they care about.
- A hand out detailing ‘Reasons to Register’
- Detail on curriculum links.
- Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Anyone wanting to hold their own registration event can also contact Cabinet Office to request posters, flyers and badges to help their event be a success. Please contact Flora.Bain@cabinet-office.gsi.gov.uk
The online toolkit is part of the Rock Enrol tour currently taking place in schools across the country. For more information on this and other activities the Government is doing to maximise registration, go to bitetheballot.co.uk/rock-enrol/.
