We live in an increasingly globalised world. The food that we buy, the clothes we wear, the companies that employ us and the sport and entertainment that we enjoy are all the result of global industries and networks. Decisions that take place at a local scale often have impacts in other places and we are faced by a range of shared global challenges.
But what is a global citizen? What knowledge, values and skills do global citizens need and how can we support young people to develop these? There are no clear answers, and educators, like students, need to be critical global thinkers. This session gives teachers an opportunity to explore their aims as global citizenship educators, and to critically review a range of approaches to global learning in Citizenship.
