The sentencing today of the two men found guilty of the murder of Stephen Lawrence does not bring us closer to resolving the challenge of living in the multicultural Britain of 2012. The challenges faced by teachers in schools in helping young people understand the nature of their identity within a diverse community remains as strong as ever.
ACT Professional Officer Chris Waller has today written about the importance that Citizenship education plays in helping school pupils explore the issues of diversity and identity.
