Educators and Policymakers Driving Change
Join us on 3 June 2025 at the iconic Portcullis House, next door to the Palace of Westminster—a symbol of democracy and the perfect setting to champion Citizenship education. This year’s theme, The Classroom and The Commons: Strengthening Democracy Through Active Citizenship, highlights the crucial role of educators and policymakers in shaping the future of democracy. With ongoing debates about lowering the voting age, the rise of misinformation, the importance of community and cohesion, and the Curriculum and Assessment Review, now is the time to strengthen Citizenship in schools.
A key highlight of the day will be an expert panel discussion exploring how democracy can evolve to be more modern, inclusive, and engaging for young citizens. With policymakers and thought leaders joining the debate, we’ll ask: What else, beyond lowering the voting age, will spark greater political participation among young people? Alongside this, practical workshops and keynote speeches will equip educators with strategies to empower students as active, informed citizens.
This is your opportunity to connect with colleagues, engage with decision-makers, and take away actionable insights to strengthen Citizenship education in your school. Book now, here.
Why attend this year’s conference?
Learn from experts in the field
In light of the current Government’s manifesto pledge to lower the voting age to 16, Citizenship education has never been more crucial to ensure young voters are informed and empowered when heading to the ballot box. This year’s expert-led panel discussion, taking place in the Churchill Room at the Houses of Parliament, will explore how to make democracy more engaging and boost youth participation.
