We run a series of events throughout the year, led by experienced subject specialists, to support your teaching and planning of citizenship education. Whether you are new to citizenship, a trained specialist or anywhere in-between, ACT is here to support you with authoritative guidance and high quality, updated resources. With schools increasingly making links to the cross-cutting value of citizenship education, it is an exciting time for teachers to get involved with us and benefit from our evolving support and membership offers.
This brand new three part CPD course has been designed to support teachers in promoting race equality in schools and teaching about the ongoing struggle for equality in society through Citizenship education. The course will be certificated for those teachers who complete all three sessions. It is possible to join for only one session if you prefer although it is advised that the two sessions on the curriculum are both attended.
We are delighted to be working with the UK Parliament’s Education team to offer members of ACT a unique opportunity to participate in the UK Parliament Teachers' Institute Programme and the chance to become a Parliament Teaching Ambassador.
The Teachers’ Institute Programme is a unique, three day continuing professional development course from 1-3 July 2019, which is fully funded for participants.
Our council of teachers recently discussed the support needed by those teaching the new specification for GCSE Citizenship Studies.
Some of our experienced teacher members are going to run GCSE Citizenship Studies teachmeets. The first will be in London in early December 2017 and we hope to run a number of them in various locations.
The Teachers’ Institute is a unique professional development opportunity, allowing education professionals & trainees to experience an intensive, informative and unforgettable week based at the Houses of Parliament.
The programme is entirely free of charge, and gives teachers, trainees and others working in education first-hand experience of Parliament in action, an opportunity to share their expertise and knowledge, and time to explore teaching ideas for the classroom.
The Post-16 Citizenship Support Programme (managed by LSN on behalf of LSIS) is pleased to offer customised in-house training for staff in any type of organisation. Customised training is designed to improve the quality and range of your citizenship provision. Our focus will be to equip your staff, at all levels, with the knowledge and skills to organise and deliver effective active citizenship learning. Even if your organisation has a well developed citizenship offer, you can benefit from our customised training.
