Developing media literacy and critical thinking with our pupils to protect them from being victims of fraud and financial crime
This workshop builds on our series on Fraud and Financial Crime this time developing the important skills of media literacy and critical thinking for students when dealing with the threat of Fraud and Financial Crime. More than ever before it is vital that our students have the tools available to them to protect themselves against all types of online crime which so often are linked to fraud and not recognizing warning signs. Additionally, as these operations become more sophisticated it is important that students have the tools they can use to recognise schemes.
Working with our well-established media literacy techniques and one of the writers of our Fraud curriculum materials you will be able to explore practical resources to use in your classroom and tools that you can use not only for identifying Fraud and money mule attempts but could apply to other areas of media literacy and encourage critical thinking.
This workshop will be interactive and give opportunities to use the tools designed and classroom resources as well as discuss with colleagues how you can develop their use in your own settings.
Attending all four sessions will lead to participants gaining a certificate from ACT and the Home Office giving national recognition for Fraud and Financial Crime Education Teaching.
Attending any single session will still be of great benefit and all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
