Teaching Citizenship and Democracy in Schools - Curriculum and Assessment Review next steps

A new commitment to Citizenship in primary and secondary schools is necessary to guarantee every learner benefits from a high quality, statutory Citizenship curriculum. Many agree this needs to be made a key priority in the Curriculum and assessment review being led by Becky Francis and a group of experts.

This online event is for organisations and interested parties to discuss the next steps in the DfE Curriculum and Assessment Review in relation to Citizenship education in the primary and secondary curriculum. Liz Moorse, ACT's Chief Executive, and Harriet Andrews, Director at The Politics Project, will lead the session. Participants will hear their perspectives on the next phase of work to develop and strengthen Citizenship as a subject in the national curriculum and as a GCSE qualification.

The session will also provide space for attendees to comment and share their ideas on the future of the subject, and how the teaching of Citizenship and democracy can be enhanced and reprioritised in more schools
