Conspiracy Theories in the Classroom - CPD for Teachers
This CPD session addresses conspiracy theories and disinformation in schools. The session aims to provide:
- summaries of the main conspiracy theories in circulation and the ones to be concerned about
- strategies to deal with moments when pupils raise conspiracy theories or disinformation
- reviews and links to some of the best free resources to improve students’ media literacy and resistance to disinformation.
The session is being led by Jeremy Hayward from UCL.
Jeremy Hayward is a former teacher and is now a lecturer specialising in the fields of citizenship education and the teaching of controversial issues at the Institute of Education, UCL. He has been involved in teacher education for the last 20 years, including leading the citizenship PGCE for over 10 years. He is the author of a range of textbooks, resources and guidance for schools in the areas of philosophy and citizenship.
