“Teaching equality and human rights: empowering children to be active citizens”.

Join us for this webinar to hear from Elena Jurado and Denise Morrisroe who both work at the Equalities and Human Rights Commission.

They will present on the role of the Commission in promoting and upholding equalities and human rights and share recent examples of cases and issues the Commission has worked on. An ideal session to build your subject knowlege for teaching National Curriculum and GCSE Citizenship requirements.

Denise Morrisroe is a senior associate at the Equality and Human Rights Commission. She has been focusing on education policy for two years, and has over a decade of experience within the equality and human rights sector, in both policy and parliamentary affairs roles. Denise has also worked for two MPs, firstly as a parliamentary assistant and then as a caseworker. This work included providing support and guidance to young people on work experience placements, e.g. ensuring they received an overview of the role of an MP.

Elena Jurado is a principal at the Equality and Human Rights Commission, where she leads on education policy. She previously worked as a research consultant at ICF, where she provided advice to the European Commission on equality and human rights issues. Elena has also worked in human rights monitoring both at the EHRC and at the Council of Europe, where she monitored compliance by the United Kingdom and other Council of Europe member states with their obligations under the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.
