This network session will give you an opportunity to work with experienced Citizenship colleagues and develop subject specific knowledge and examples to share with pupils.

This ECT Network session will focus on developing good subject knowledge of Citizenship.

During this session, ACT Teaching Ambassadors will focus on sharing their wide experience of Citizenship teaching. We will discuss refining a collection of analogies, illustrations, examples and explanations. We will also use concrete representation of abstract ideas to help you teach your pupils to have domain specific knowledge, especially when being asked to think critically within a subject.

This session will be introduced by Zoe Baker, ACT Head of Education and Professional Development, and led by some of our ACT Teaching Ambassadors, David Elliott and Ayla Malik.

You will leave the session with:

  • ideas to use in the classroom.
  • an understanding of Citizenship substantive knowledge and Citizenship concepts and how these can effectively be taught to pupils.
  • confidence in how to enable pupils to understand abstract concepts and develop their critical thinking.
