Get set for the General Election!

An introduction to ACT’s Parallel Elections Project, the set of election materials created for schools to deliver as preparation for the election

Get set for the General Election with our workshop introducing the Parallel Elections Project election materials

About this event

This workshop will give you the confidence to start planning your General Election lessons in school. We will introduce you to ACT’s Parallel Elections Project, the election materials created for schools to deliver as preparation for the election and to support fundamental British values.

This workshop will provide the perfect opportunity to allow teachers to plan for the upcoming General Election. Schools have an opportunity to develop pupils’ political literacy and fundamental British Values by taking part in our Parallel Elections Project.

During this workshop, our leaders will guide you through the new resources, designed to be fully flexible to allow you to teach about the election in a way that suits your curriculum with little preparation.  Students get the opportunity to experience the election process from the dissolution of Parliament to polling day in real time and have the opportunity to analyse results.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the resources, be reassured about political impartiality and find out what additional CPD will be coming after the holidays.

Who is it for?

You should attend this workshop if you lead the Personal Development area of your school, are a teacher of Citizenship or PSHE, Head of Year or a teacher who feels students should understand about the political system

CPD strand – Politics, Elections and Society

Building upon the CPD offering in the previous year and feedback from our members, we have introduced a new strand entitled ‘Politics, Elections and Society’ which provides broader subject knowledge enhancement and incorporates a range of elements from previous CPD strands.
