Membership

ACT is the association for teachers, educators and others involved and interested in teaching Citizenship. We work on behalf of everyone engaged in Citizenship education. Your support helps us continue our work.

Joining ACT is simple: complete the form, pay online or request an invoice. Click on the links below to join today!

Individual membership is £46.00 for one year or £78.00 for two years. Trainee teachers get two years for the price of one!

Organisational membership is £160 for one year and £296 for two years. Aimed at organisations (eg Universities, Libraries, NGOs) and gives two of your staff all of the advantages listed plus discounted rates on advertising in our journal and discounted exhibition space at our annual national conference.

E Membership is free of charge and means you receive our e-news, access to a selection of website resources and events such as regional teachmeets. If you want to access our full range of resources, journal and discounts on training, CPD and conferences, please sign up as an individual or organisational member.

ACT journal ‘Teaching Citizenship’
ACT’s journal has in-depth features, news and resources for all those involved with citizenship education. It contains articles about the latest policy information as well as case studies and lesson plans.

ACT e-news ‘Citizenship Focus’
Our regular email updates (around twice a month) keep you up to date with the latest developments in citizenship.

ACT website – ‘Members only’ resources
This includes guidance to support the national curriculum for citizenship and resources for every key stage, from primary to post-16.

Direct support, access to high quality training and annual conference (at discounted prices)
ACT's team offers you advice and guidance about all aspects of citizenship teaching. Details of our annual national conference, held each summer, and training days, are published on our events page. We can also provide tailored programmes of school based CPD at an additional cost.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)
We are accountable to our members, who are invited to the AGM to discuss ACT’s work with our Board of Trustees and ACT Council. Individual and Organisational members have the right to vote on issues discussed at the AGM.

ACT Council
ACT Council, which comprises teachers and practitioners from across the country, contributes to the association’s education programmes and decision-making. Indvidual and organisational members can stand for ACT Council. We encourage them to help steer our work and have a leading role in Citizenship education nationally.
