Membership

ACT is the association for teachers, educators and others involved and interested in teaching Citizenship. We work on behalf of everyone engaged in Citizenship education. Your support helps us continue our work. To receive full benefits of ACT choose one of the memberships below:

Organisation membership (£200)

Aimed at schools this membership gives your staff all of the advantages of the membership package. Multi-academy trusts buying memberships for their school network should contact us for a discounted rate. FE colleges, universities, libraries, NGOs or other organisations with a commitment to Citizenship education, can also access discounted rates for advertising in our journal, attending and/or exhibiting at our annual national conference.

Individual membership (£75)

Aimed at individual teachers and educators, who are interested in accessing one off lesson plans, projects and discounted CPD sessions. Early Careers Teachers/Trainee Teachers get two years for the price of one.

Membership benefits

ACT journal ‘Teaching Citizenship’ - ACT’s journal has in-depth features, news and resources for all those involved with citizenship education. It contains articles about the latest policy information as well as case studies and lesson plans.

One to one member support - Available from our advisory teachers and ACT Ambassador teachers.

ACT E-news ‘Citizenship Focus’ - Our regular email updates (around twice a month) keep you up to date with the latest developments in citizenship.

Teaching resources - This includes guidance to support the national curriculum for citizenship and resources for every key stage, from primary to post-16. From September, Organisation members will be able to access our brand new full model curriculum. 

New website (from September)
The website is due to launch in the new academic year, offering you the ability to easily search for resources, access policy and guidance information and keep up to date with all things Citizenship. 

Core model curriculum (from September)
We are releasing an entire KS4 model curriculum; designed using up to date academic and pedagogical research, the model curriculum aims to provide you with a complete understanding of best practice curriculum planning and lesson delivery.  

CPD sessions - ACT's team offers you advice and guidance about all aspects of citizenship teaching, curriculum, assessment and qualifications. Organisation members can access inclusive CPD in academic year 2022/23.

Opportunities to join in with national projects - ACT have partnered with several NGOs, organisations, and universities to run national projects around media literacy, resilience, suffrage, and the deliberate classroom, As a member you have access to lesson plans, resources, and pilot schemes.
