Lead Assessment Writer for A-level Citizenship Studies (CIST3)

Reviser for A-level Citizenship Studies (CIST1, CIST2, CIST3, CIST4)

We have two roles to support this qualification.

Lead Assessment Writer

Opportunity to be responsible for the setting of the 2015 question paper for A-level Citizenship Studies, and overseeing the standardisation, marking and awarding of the June 2014 paper for CIST3.  The Lead Assessment Writer is involved in a range of pre-production planning activities through to item construction and question paper production. This is a great opportunity for someone who is familiar with Citizenship Studies to help to shape the future of this qualification that builds students’ problem-solving and critical approaches to issues.

Reviser

Key to this role is an ability to review a question paper from the perspective of a student and, where necessary, be able to modify the question to ensure students fully understand what is required of them. You will proofread and provide feedback on question papers and mark schemes throughout their production.

How much time must I commit?

For the Lead Assessment Writer there is a greater time commitment than for the Reviser. You will need to attend around five days’ worth of meetings throughout the year, usually based in Guildford.  Other tasks can be done from home fit round other professional commitments.  The Reviser role can easily be fit around a full time teaching role, with most tasks undertaken at home.

Who are we looking for:

Education professionals familiar with Citizenship Studies, and with politics and law in a citizenship context.  You will have experience of preparing candidates for examinations and of exam marking. For the Lead Assessment Writer you will also ideally have had some exposure to writing question papers and mark schemes.  For both roles the ideal candidates will have recent teaching experience of the AQA A-level Citizenship Studies qualification.  You will need to work well under pressure, be able to meet deadlines and possess good IT skills.

How can I apply?

For more information regarding both roles, visit our  website, or email examine@aqa.org.uk. Quote reference number CS318021 for the Lead Assessment Writer and CSR318021 for the Reviser post.  Applicants wishing to apply for both posts can do so on one application form.
