ACT National Conference 2017 - Essential teacher CPD
'Transformative Citizenship Teaching' - National CPD conference, 4 July 2017
In the last year, two great Citizenship teachers have joined ACT Council and both will be contributing at the National Conference in London in July.
Zoe from Towers School in Kent is running workshops on 'Citizenship leadership - How can you transform your subject?'
The sessions will be invaluable for teachers with a subject coordination role or looking for support and ideas to refresh their Citizenship provision and keep the subject high on the agenda with Heads and senior leaders.
Hayle from Chiltern Edge School, Reading and Education Officer at Amnesty UK is going to run sessions on 'Creative Human Rights education'. This will include exploring teaching approaches for some of the most complex rights education issues such as LGBTI. The session will also share learning from the ACT pilot of the Robert Kennedy Foundation 'Speak Truth to Power' human rights curriculum which has been taking place in ten primary and secondary schools across the country this year.
These sessions, alongside others on 'Assessment without levels' and 'Curriculum responses to contemporary news issues' make the conference this year essential CPD for any primary or secondary teacher delivering Citizenship, SMSC, personal development or fundamental British Values.
