New membership packages from September 2022

We have exciting changes for September 2022! Take a peek at what to expect.

We have exciting changes coming for September 2022!

What are the key changes?

These improved membership packages reflect our desire to embed Citizenship across the curriculum, culture and community of a school. We want to support teachers across every institution, whether they are new to Citizenship, trained specialists, or school leaders. There will be two main packages: individual memberships and School and College memberships. Alternatively, you can join as a free E-member, but this only allows access to limited resources. Regardless of which membership you opt for, you’ll join our mailing list to receive the latest Citizenship education news and insights.

New website

After more than a decade, ACT recently secured strategic support to fund a new, modern website. It will enable us to serve our members and supporters with greater efficiency and ease. Beyond updating many of our existing membership services and resources, we are also developing new ways to help you better embed Citizenship education in your school.

New brand

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations this year, you will also see some changes to our brand identity to reflect the dynamism of our work and carry a sense of purpose, pride and confidence. Although our look and feel is becoming more contemporary, our mission remains the same. We will continue to strive for quality Citizenship education to be an entitlement for every young person in school.

More membership benefits for schools

The most important change to our membership structure is the increased number of benefits for School and College memberships – which has a greater focus on teachers now. In order to provide the best possible support to schools and colleges we have created a range of new benefits that will benefit the entire teaching team within each institution.

School and College membership benefits

A brand new model Citizenship curriculum for key stage 4 is being released for schools with School and College membership from September. It contains schemes of work, lesson plans and resources. This model curriculum has been designed to meet national curriculum requirements, reflect the best pedagogical research, and to exemplify the ACT principles of effective citizenship teaching. The curriculum can be used as a classroom-ready sequence of lessons and resources, or can be adapted to complement existing provision.
