In February, the Secretary of State for Education announced plans for the comprehensive reform of GCSEs.The DfE is now seeking views on proposed subject content and assessment objectives for new GCSEs.

The consultation is for the proposed subject content for reformed GCSEs in English language, English literature, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, combined science (double award), history, geography, modern languages and ancient languages, as well as the Reformed GCSE Subject Content Consultation. The consultation can be found here on the DfE's website and will run from 11 June until 22 August.

The current consultation does not include GCSE Citizenship Studies. Reform of the Citizenship Studies examinations at GCSE and A Level will happen after 2015. ACT will ensure that teachers are alerted to this and can take full part in the consultations that will occur.

ACT encourages all Citizenship teachers to take part in the consultation
