All three New GCSEs in Citizenship Studies approved by Exams Regulator
This week saw the new AQA GCSE in Citizenship Studies achieve accreditation by Ofqual, the Exams Regulator. This means that all three full course GCSE qualifications in Citizenship Studies are now ready for use in schools.
The new GSCEs which are available for first teaching this year and for first examination from 2018 are different to those currently in use in a number of ways:

The new GCSEs in Citizenship Studies counts towards the DFE's Progress 8 measure of attainment in school performance tables. The new qualifications also align with the DFE's British Values, Character education agenda and support pupils' SMSC development.

Publishers are also soon to release new GCSE text books and student materials that have been written and specifically tailored to support the teaching of each qualification and its requirements.
Harper Collins is publishing a student work book and teachers' guide to support the Edexcel GCSE.
Hodder Education is producing text books and online teaching materials to support the AQA and OCR GCSEs. Hodder Education also offers a Key Stage 3 Citizenship book which was awarded the ACT Quality Mark for teaching resources in 2015.
