GCSE Citizenship Studies results for summer 2013
GCSE results out today (22 August 2013) show a continued shift from the short course to the full course for GCSE Citizenship Studies. This is in line with other subjects and reflects recent changes by the DFE to school performance tables which will now only report results for full course GCSEs.
The qualification continues to be used by many schools and centres across the country with just under 54,000 candidates attaining the qualification today. The provisional statistics for the subject published by the Joint Council for Qualifications show that overall candidate numbers for Citizenship Studies have fallen in the short course, but there has been a small increase in numbers for the full course.
The GCSE provides a respected means to recognise and celebrate the attainment of pupils in the subject. Citizenship will continue to be a statutory subject in the revised National Curriculum for all 11-16 year olds which is expected to be published by the DFE this autumn.
ACT would like to say many congratulations to all those who achieved their GCSE in Citizenship Studies today!
