Full Course GCSE Citizenship 2016
TES published an article, 'Six things we learned from today's exam entry figures', on 26 May 2016 which reported that Year 11 entries for GCSE Citizenship were down by 26%.
However, these figures are based on entries and combine full and short course statistics. We need to wait for the detail on the full course GCSE to come out after the August results.
We know that the short course will decline as it no longer counts in school performance tables but the full course GCSE Citizenship has shown positive growth over the past few years.
We will make a statement on the full course GCSE figures when the results come out in August. In the meantime, we continue to talk to DfE Ministers about subject status and visibility and have asked the DfE statistical team to monitor and record the impact of Progress 8.
