Curriculum and Assessment Review: Student Voice Resources
As part of the ongoing Curriculum and Assessment Review, ACT is committed to gathering not just teacher insights but also the perspectives of students—the future participants and leaders in our democracy. Engaging learners in this process will ensure their experiences and needs shape the future of Citizenship education in schools across England.
This project invites students to share their recommendations for Citizenship education over the next 25 years. Through guided discussions and active learning, young people can voice their opinions on how the Citizenship curriculum can best reflect their lived experiences and the pressing issues of our time—such as political participation, equality, and environmental responsibility.
We’ve created a set of resources for both Primary and Secondary schools, including a PowerPoint presentation and group work guidelines, to help you facilitate this activity in your classroom. Whether used in tutor time, as part of the curriculum, or by student-led groups like school councils or eco clubs, these materials are designed to spark meaningful conversations and encourage students to think critically about the Citizenship curriculum.
Your students’ feedback will directly inform ACT’s response to the national review and influence how the subject evolves to remain relevant and empowering for the 21st century. Download the resources and give your pupils the chance to make their voices heard.
