Justice, the legal system and international law

This guidance supports the national curriculum for Citizenship. The topic, Justice, the legal system and international law, addresses the following requirements in the revised programme of study:

  • the precious liberties enjoyed by the citizens of the United Kingdom (KS3)
  • human rights and international law (KS4)
  • the nature of law and the justice system, including the role of the police and the operation of courts and tribunals (KS3)
  • the legal system in the UK, different sources of law and how the law helps society deal with complex problems (KS4).
