How do you vote in an election?

In the United Kingdom there are different types of elections a person can vote in, depending on their location, to be part of our democracy. These include mayoral, local council and national elections. The lesson will cover who can vote and when, while looking at a range of different scenarios. It also covers the ways you can vote and introduces voting language like campaign, husting and manifesto.

The learning objectives for this lesson are to:

  • know the the different ways people can vote in an election
  • understand where you can get information to help you choose who to vote for in an election
  • understand the process of voting at a polling station
