Make it go viral! – reporting my action to the world.
This lesson is the final part of a sequence of 11 lessons addressing the key enquiry: How can I be a changemaker in my local community?
This lesson focuses on helping students report on their citizenship actions and explore the potential for their campaigns to ‘go viral’. Students begin by discussing what makes a campaign viral, the benefits and drawbacks of widespread attention, and strategies for maximising their impact. They then choose a method to report their actions—such as writing a news article, creating a display, making a film, or recording a podcast—while considering their target audience and the tools available. Teachers support by prompting students to refine their approaches and evaluate how publicity could enhance their campaign’s success. The lesson concludes with reflections on the value of publicising their efforts and a takeaway task exploring online petitions.
Students will work towards answering the following learning questions:
- How can I make my action go viral?
- Is it worth publicising my action in this way?
- How can I report my action to the world?
- Why make my action viral?
