Who runs the United Kingdom? Lesson 6 of 6
Key stage 3 (ages 11-14) • Politics, Parliament & Government • Lesson and support materials
Who runs the United Kingdom?
This lesson is part 6 of a sequence of 6 lessons addressing the key enquiry: Who runs the United Kingdom?
To draw together their learning across this scheme of work, students produce a piece of work addressing the key enquiry question: ‘Who runs the United Kingdom?’ They choose whether to create a leaflet, essay or mind map and use success criteria to shape the content. They then peer assess each other’s work and end the lesson by considering how they could get involved in politics and perhaps become the leaders of tomorrow.
Students will work towards answering the following questions:
- What is Parliament?
- What is the government, and how is it different to Parliament?
- How are our leaders elected?
- Does Westminster hold all of the power?
