How do local elections work?

This lesson explains the democratic processes involved in local elections including the roles of political parties and the voting system.

This series of lessons is part of the 20th anniversary collection. Produced in conjunction with Ben Miskell, ACT Ambassador teacher and a local councilor, the series aims to introduce your students to local government, councils and empower them to find out more about the local elections. Lessons are aimed at Key stage 3 and Key stage 4.

This lesson was originally written for the May 2022 local elections.
