ACT Teaching Citizenship Conference

Bringing together teachers, practitioners and supporters to explore, amplify and exchange ideas that support high-quality Citizenship teaching.

Our annual conference centres around a theme that allows participants to explore a wide range of topics and establish clear links and practical outcomes that can be used in the classroom. You’ll leave with resources, lesson plans, fresh ideas and a revived vigour for the subject!

Our annual conference is also a great opportunity to celebrate our subject and come together as a community to explore new ideas and form relationships, including national and local organisations that can continue to support your teaching after the event.

Teaching Citizenship Conference 2025

The Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) is excited to announce that our annual Teaching Citizenship Conference will take place on 3 June 2025 at the iconic Portcullis House, next door to the Palace of Westminster–a symbol of democracy and the perfect setting to champion Citizenship education.

This year’s conference will explore how teachers and parliamentarians can work together to build democratic knowledge and resilience. It’s a unique opportunity for educators, policymakers, and advocates to share ideas, strategies, and innovations for strengthening Citizenship education.

Key Highlights

  • Location: The Attlee Conference Suite at Portcullis House, the prestigious office space for 213 Members of Parliament and their staff.
  • Make Space for Citizenship Campaign: A chance to build on ACT’s campaign, exploring ways to embed Citizenship in every school and community.

Celebrate Excellence in Citizenship Education
The conference will also coincide with the ACT Citizenship Teaching Awards 2025, held separately in the evening in the Churchill Room in the Houses of Parliament.
