January e-news focus on Holocaust Memorial Day

Have you signed up for the e-news? This month the feature is Holocaust Memorial Day, January 27th. You can read the e-news HERE and sign up on line on the ACT homepage. The e-news provies a monthly theme, links to different ACT events and features plus news, resoiurces, events and activities from our partners. 

Temporary post at ACT

ACT is looking for a temporary Membership and Office Administrator for our office in London. The role is for 18 hours per week until June 2014. Applicants can email for further application information from Chris Waller at ACT office via Chris.Waller@teachingcitizenship.org.uk There is a download with further details about the post below. The main duties are as follows:
  1. To act as administrative support and the charity’s first point of contact in the office
  2. To administer the membership of ACT

ACT will be closed for the holidays

The ACT office will be closed from Monday 23rd December, and will reopen on Monday 6th January.

We hope that all of our members have a restful Christmas break and a very happy New Year.

National Citizen Service and ACT launch new materials to promote social action

ACT has joined forces with National Citizen Service (NCS) to launch a new resource to support high quality Citizenship teaching, active citizenship and social action in schools. 

GCSE Citizenship Studies results for summer 2013

GCSE results out today (22 August 2013) show a continued shift from the short course to the full course for GCSE Citizenship Studies. This is in line with other subjects and reflects recent changes by the DFE to school performance tables which will now only report results for full course GCSEs.

ACT Council respond final DFE curriculum consultation

ACT Council has sent in its response to the latest consultation on the citizenship programme of study for the new National Curriculum. ACT Council continued the line that it had strongly supported during the first consultation in January 2013 - namely that the draft programme of study

ACT Annual General Meeting 2013

The ACT Annual General Meeting for 2013 will take place at 2pm on Tuesday 9 July at University of London Union, Mallet Street, London, WC1E 7HY. 

This is an important opportunity for members of ACT to meet with the Trustees and Council. The meeting takes place on the same day and at the same venue as the ACT Annual Conference.

ACT is recruiting new trustees

ACT wants to recruit new Trustees to its Board to expand and enhance the expertise available to the Charity. We are particularly keen to recruit those who are committed to ACT’s mission and strategic aims, can contribute actively to the Board’s role in setting the overall strategic direction of the organisation to help ensure the organisation meets its objectives, is well managed, is in line with legal obligations and is financially sustainable and provide support and advice to staff in delivering ACT’s agreed programmes work.
