20 lessons for 20 years - What does it mean to be British?

Key stage 3 (ages 11-14) • Identities & Communities • Lesson and support materials

This lesson fits into a wider scheme about identity. Students will critically look at what affects perceptions of British identity, discussing what it means to be British and debating influences on British identity and the differing perspectives.

This lesson has been developed by Scott Amott, ACT ambassador and Citizenship teacher.

This lesson is part of our 20 Lessons for 20 Years collection celebrating the fantastic work that is carried out every day in our Citizenship community of teachers.  Our Citizenship teachers have shared their favourite lessons that encompass the knowledge, skills and understanding pupils develop through Citizenship education.
